My name is Joyce Watson. I was born January 25, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Faye Williams as one of two twin girls. At the age of five, my mom, three brothers, four sisters, and I moved to Houston, Texas. My mom, oldest brother, and one older sister have since passed, but my remaining siblings still reside in Houston, Texas.

At the age of seven, I was in a very bad car accident with my grandmother. I was in a coma for three months; personally, I believe that after I awoke from the coma, I was no longer the little girl I was before the accident. Everything seemed new and different and this feeling has followed me throughout my life. My fondest memories of childhood were the times my siblings and I went to the beach, traveled back and forth to Chicago to visit my father, and traveled with my aunt to Los Angeles. It was the best times of our lives.

In my early twenties, I started out working as a Leasing Manager and, finally, worked my way up to District Manager over the Houston Region for NPC. During that time, I also attended HCC for Cosmetology and later received my Cosmetology License.

In 1993, I married a man with my same love for children. We proudly became parents to three children and three grandchildren. During the early stages of marriage, a mutual decision was made to foster children. As time went on, we began to realize those children needed us more than we knew. We loved them unconditionally and wondered if that would be enough. I never imagined how much love and attention the children would need. While in our care, I began to have a heart for all children that were displaced and in need and really wanted to do more – so another mutual decision was made to adopt. We adopted a five-year old boy and this still didn’t seem to be enough.

I began to pray continuously asking God where did I fit in and what more could I do? God saw my tears and heard my heart’s cry and his only spoken words were “Good Heart”. I received that message in my spirit and now seven years later “Good Hearts Youth and Family Services” has evolved. To God be the Glory! “Good Hearts Youth and Family Services” serves families throughout the greater Houston area. We are moving forward and looking to the future for further expansion and continued growth. I can truly say all things are possible with God!
